Llanwenog Sheep
The sheep are from the Llanwenog breed, named after a village just 8 miles from Treberfedd. Like the Traditional Hereford cattle they are also classed as a native rare breed. The breed was established over a hundred years ago by crossing a now extinct local welsh mountain breed with a lowland breed from Shropshire.
The breed is distinguished by their black faces, pointy black ears and tuft of wool on the forehead. They are medium sized sheep well known for their good mothering ability and for producing a high percentage of twins and triplets.
Llanwenog sheep produce excellent tasty meat and high quality wool which can be made into blankets, rugs and jumpers.
